Caring Coins Foundation was established by Hargray in 2003, with the express purpose of providing support to local 501c3 non-profit organizations in Bluffton, Hardeeville and Hilton Head. In 2008, the foundation added Beaufort, SC.
Participants in the program are Hargray Communications customers who voluntarily round up their monthly bill. The spare "change" collected is disbursed quarterly by an independent Board of Directors and the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry.
The Lowcountry has always been a very giving and generous area. The customers of Hargray who participate in this program should feel very proud that their small monthly contributions add up to approximately $275,000 annually. For each individual participating, this average $5.78 a year.
